At the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2025 in Norway from 23 to 27 June, the General Director of the Agency for Digital Italy presented Italy's perspective and the Agency's vision on the role of multilateral and inclusive AI governance.

AgID received 52 project proposals, with a total of more than 160 economic players involved

A survey and analysis was carried out on 120 projects, with the aim of conducting an in-depth investigation into the use of AI.

Public sector investments in Information and Communication Technology are growing from €3.8 billion in 2022 to €4.6 billion in 2023. For 2024 and 2025, expenditure is expected to exceed €5 billion. Administrations increasingly focused on innovation spending (44% of the total). Investments on cloud, cybersecurity and digitalization of services are on the rise.

A recent meeting with a Romanian delegation facilitated a mutual exchange of knowledge on digital transformation initiatives. This was part of a World Bank's technical assistance to the Romanian Government to develop a digital competency framework, which is financed by the European Commission. The discussion focused particularly on digital skills development, allowing both countries to compare strategies and best practices.

AgID analysed more than 4.7 million web pages, 29,409 sites, and 780,152 PDF files of public administrations, detecting the level of compliance with regulatory obligations and the most frequent errors.

Italy's performance is above the European average in all four dimensions measured, with significant results in the policy dimension. With a score of 100%, this dimension confirms the country's commitment to defining open data policies and strategies in line with those outlined at European level.

The Agreement aims to develop projects and initiatives that can contribute to a greater understanding and management of the impact of new technologies.
