The Italian version of the document edited by the AI Task Force of the Agency for Digital Italy was presented in Rome last 21st of March, and now becomes available also for the an international audience.
In the White Paper there are the first Italian guidelines on how to use in a responsible and sustainable way the Artificial Intelligence in the Public Administration.
What is the White Paper on Artificial Intelligence at the service of the citizen?
The White Paper was edited by the AI Task Force of the Agency for Digital Italy, an interdisciplinary group of 30 experts, and is the result of a public consultation that gathered about 100 recommendations from public and private subjects dealing with AI in Italy.
It is the first document addressed to the PA such as schools, health facilities, municipalities, tribunals, and ministries. It contains the recommendation and guidelines on how to use in the best way possible the opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence, developing more efficient and effective services tailored around the needs of the citizens. In particular, the white paper tackles, through a multidisciplinary and systemic approach, the various challenges related to the application of AI in the public sector, such as those of an ethical, juridical, technological and cultural nature.
Artificial intelligence and Blockchain, the international role of AGID
In terms of AI, AgID also plays a leading role internationally. Since January the Agency has been the coordinator of the OECD thematic group on emerging technologies in the public sector, a group that is working on the elaboration of guidelines for the use of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain in the public services in OECD countries.
