Spatial data

Spatial data represent the basic knowledge element for spatial management policies and contribute to producing useful information to support decisions on safety, civil protection, spatial planning, transport, environment, etc.

The Digital Administration Code (Article 59) contains two regulatory provisions - consistent with the indications contained in the INSPIRE Community Directive, which contribute to making the role of public administration in this sector more incisive and to harmonising and improving the quality and coherence of spatial data.

The National directory of spatial data, recognised as a database of national interest, contains the catalogue of metadata relating to the spatial data - and related services - of administrations, in order to facilitate their diffusion and ensure search services. It is also the national point of access for implementation of the INSPIRE directive with regard to metadata.
