In the last weeks, a delegation of Romanian civil servants visited the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) to share knowledge and best practices on digital transformation frameworks in the public sector, with a particular emphasis on the development of digital skills.

The visit was organized with the support of the European Commission through the TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument) Programme. The visit was part of a TSI-funded project that aims to support the Romanian government in developing a general digital competency framework for civil servants, with the support of the World Bank. A core pillar of the project is to learn from international best practices in other EU countries, with special attention to the Italian experience, which aligns closely with the European DigComp2.2 framework and shares governance similarities with Romania.

Representatives from AgID presented the agency’s mission and key initiatives to support the country’s digitalization process, as well as efforts put in place to develop and enhance digital skills of both citizens and public sector employees. The discussion highlighted the Three-Year Plan for IT in Public Administration, digital accessibility, the role of the Digital Transition Manager (RTD), and the outcomes of the “Italia Login” project.
