What is the Internet Governance Forum

IGF was established in 2006 by the United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, and is the leading platform for global discussion on Internet and digital governance. It adopts and promotes principles of openness, transparency, inclusiveness, a bottom-up and non-commercial approach, and a multi-stakeholder model.

IGF Italy, the national forum established in 2008, operates in accordance with the principles outlined by the United Nations and in close collaboration with IGF (UN). The IGF Italy Committee, established at the Department for Digital Transformation, organizes the annual event through open, transparent and inclusive processes and public consultations open to all. The aim is to gather input from the Italian community useful for defining the event's program.
