Companies can now apply to join the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Italy Committee. Participation modalities were outlined during the Committee meeting on 5 September. On this occasion, Chengetai Masango, Coordinator of the UN IGF Secretariat, expressed his appreciation for the creation of the Italian Committee and gave an overview of the current issues related to global Internet governance.

The role of the IGF Italy Committee

The IGF Italy Committee, established at the Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, coordinates and supports the debate on Internet governance in our country with a series of functions: promoting an open and inclusive multi-stakeholder approach, defining strategic guidelines through cooperation with international bodies and organisations, participating in technical and legislative forums, promoting digital literacy initiatives, as well as studies and recommendations on Internet development.

The Committee comprises representatives of public administrations, business, civil society, academia and research.

The appointment of the six corporate members

Companies that actively participate in the organisation of the global IGF, EuroDIG or IGF Italy, or have participated in previous editions, can apply to be part of the Committee by filling out the form available at https://candidatureimpreseigf.agid.gov.it/

On the form, after authentication by SPID or CIE, it is necessary to indicate the company name, VAT number, contact details, sector and tax codes of the voting delegate, the proposed candidate and the substitute candidate.

Once the nominations have been collected, the Committee will activate the voting process that will result in the appointment of the six representatives.
