On tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Pirelli room of the AgID headquarters, located in via Liszt 21 in Rome, a public event will be held to close the market consultation on the innovative tender "Development of Territorial Communities through the Enhancement of Cultural Heritage," with a total value of 10 million euros.
During the event, the Ministry of Universities and Research and the Digital Italy Agency will present the essential elements of the tender process and provide space for comments from the market, prior to the publication of the call for tenders.
The event will take place in person also in order to stimulate networking between market operators, however it will be possible to follow it remotely, via the Teams platform.

Government spending on goods and services aimed at promoting cultural heritage and tourist destinations is in the range of 1 billion euros per year. The objective of this tender is to identify and develop new digital services that public and private entities can use to enhance the lesser-known artistic and cultural heritage, intercepting the large tourist flows that insist especially on the large cities and the best-known cultural sites of our country, promoting the social and economic growth of territorial communities.
A challenge presented to the market with an open innovation approach, which registered the interest of more than 700 subjects, including public entities (23 percent), universities and public and private research centers (12 percent), large companies (12 percent), and SMEs and startups (38 percent), particularly operators in the tourism and cultural sector and the technological innovation sector.
Between September and December 2023, public discussion was held to emerge needs and stimulate demand for innovative services: numerous applications from local governments to participate in the trial.
February 2024 saw the start of the preliminary market consultation, a key step in defining the innovative solution and the participatory development of tender documents.
AgID gathered market experiences during plenary events and through "One to One" meetings, an innovative format devised by the agency that involves a "face-to-face" dialogue, in public, between the operator and the contracting station. More than 40 market participants requested a dedicated one-on-one session. cultural and technology innovation sector.
Economic operators, businesses, universities, research centers, third sector entities, individuals, etc. interested in the challenge can still fill out the "expression of interest" form and participate in "Let's team up!", the tool made available by AgID - to which almost 300 operators have already signed up - to encourage business groupings, thus increasing the competitiveness of the bids and enabling those participating in the call to respond more effectively to the demand for innovation.
The initiative is part of Smarter Italy and is funded by the POC Research and Innovation 2014-2020, action line II.A “precommercial procurement” of the Ministry of University and Research.
