Digital literacy for all

Digital literacy for all

For citizens

  1. Raising awareness

For a truly digital society, every citizen must be aware of the benefits of digital innovation in everyday life. AgID’s mission is to make basic digital skills accessible to all.

  2. Inclusion, accessibility and security online

Acquiring basic digital skills means being included in the digital society, with access to online services and learning opportunities. However, this must be complemented by a sound understanding of online risks, in order to best recognise and protect oneself against digital threats.

For businesses

  1. Competitiveness and innovation

AgID promotes the adoption of advanced digital solutions by Italian companies, a fundamental building block for sustainable economic development.

  2. Productivity and new business opportunities

Automation and digital efficiency can increase productivity and reduce operating costs. The acquisition of specialised digital skills offers new business opportunities in high-growth sectors, such as data science, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

For public administrations

  1. Efficient service delivery

Digital skills and automation enable faster and more direct access to public services, reducing waiting times and improving the user experience.

  2. Responsiveness and innovation

Being open to new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and being able to innovate to seize opportunities is crucial for public administrations, to become the engine of digitisation for society as a whole.

3 types of skills

3 types of skills

AgID’s activities are aimed at developing basic, e-leadership and specialised digital skills, with a focus on new professions and the world of small businesses.

Basic skills

AgID has focused its activities on the use of European models for cataloguing competences

One of AgID's main activities is the translation of the DigComp 2.1, the European model of basic digital skills for citizens.

The document identifies 5 areas of competence (information and data literacy, collaboration and communication, digital content creation, security, problem solving) and 8 levels of proficiency for each area.

Specialised digital skills

Specialised digital skills refer to ICT professionals, and are in demand in both the private and public sectors.

Since 2017, AgID has been supporting the definition of digital competences for ICT professionals and for individuals who use ICT in their work.

E-leadership skills

E-leadership or e-business skills represent the ability to make the best use of digital technologies within any type of organization and to introduce digital innovation in a specific market sector. Digital skills are closely integrated with a leader’s soft skills and sector-specific skills.

The e-leader uses technologies to define and implement digital innovation projects. Their expertise is the result of a continuous integration of skills learned in training or acquired during their career.
